The photo below shows a huge mass in a tree. The mass was around five or six feet in diameter. We are not sure whether it is a nest or a cancer like growth. Any ideas?

After the hike I went over to Lois and Jamey's for dinner. The picture below was taken of Grand Marais bay from their house.
